About the Website

This website is part of an undergraduate digital humanities project that seeks to create narrative histories of public liberal arts institutions.  Our project takes an in-depth look at the function and history of Geneseo’s Humanities sequence and general education requirements.  We selected this focus because Geneseo’s general education requirements, and the Humanities especially, are the primary curricular components through which Geneseo achieves its liberal arts mission of preparing students to be “informed citizens in the community.” Our research on the topic included digging through Geneseo’s archives, investigating national trends in higher education, and interviewing faculty members and students at Geneseo.

Featured Posts contains the integration of our research, while the other areas contain our topics of research in isolation, including a timeline of Geneseo’s history as an educational institution and the complete transcripts and audio files of our interviews.
